Welcome to Shopdog

I've always done odd jobs around the house, but sometime around 2007 I decided to take up woodworking as a hobby.  I am 100% self taught and consider myself a "weekend warrior".  This is a hobby, I enjoy it, and have enjoyed the learning process.... I learn something every time I go into the shop, even if I'm doing something I've done before.  I think this is one of the things that has kept me interested in the craft.

I am not what I consider a "skilled artisan" and this site is not intended as a marketing tool for my skills.  I put this site together because it is easier to share photos and such like this rather than to clog up email systems.
Pictures on display here will take you through my journey into woodworking from the very beginning up to my most recent work, so there is some pretty "rough" pieces shown.

Why "Shopdog"

We  have  had several dogs over the years and the Labrador Retriever's are compelled to be wherever we are ... no matter where we are.  If I am in the shop, they actually act offended if I don't let them out there with me.  They literally insist that they be there, just in case I need an extra paw to help out.  You can always tell if they have been in the shop, they are typically covered in wood shavings or sawdust.
There was a period, years back, where I was into pottery.  The dogs were the same back then, but they usually ended up covered in clay... so the term "Shopdog" goes back quite a few years
